Our Mission

Breaking Barriers, Building Communities.

Communities are built upon trust. Without trust, barriers begin to form which stop communities from helping one another. Yusra App is here to break down barriers. We build trust by allowing users to request help from nearby volunteers in a safe and efficient manner. We build communities by allowing volunteers to collaborate, stay organised and motivated with in-app rewards, training programmes and various support packages. We are the companion of every community. We are Yusra App.

Guiding Principles

“A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.” – Malcolm X

It is at the heart of everything we do. We care for others, empower those who want to care for others and increase the quality of care that is given and received.

We give it to others and expect it in return. We value our users, volunteers and all those who support us. We deeply respect those who strive to help others and so we strive to reward them.

It is of the utmost importance that we always maintain our integrity. We must always stick to our principles and ensure our actions are rightly guided.

Our Vision

“A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.” – RM Kanter

Remove Strain

We want to take the strain off healthcare services, local authorities and other service providers.

We want to ensure voluntary work is respected, valued and rewarded.

We want to empower individuals to solve local problems.

Barriers we Are Breaking

Yusra App enables healthcare services to offload pressure onto local, reliable and qualified volunteers through social prescribing.

Yusra App has developed three features to increase security and make the app a trustworthy platform for all. Integrated basic DBS checks for users, enhanced DBS checks for volunteers and a volunteer referral system.

Yusra App allows users to remain anonymous whilst maintaining the safety and integrity of all.

Yusra App shows respect and values our volunteers by offering them in-app rewards. Yusra App also uses The Vault, a designated fund aimed at helping both users and volunteers, to further financially support them and solve their problems.

Yusra App allows professionals of varying backgrounds to collaborate together. Local doctors, social workers, councillors, youth workers and mental health experts can all effectively communicate together to solve multiple problems that a single household may face.

Yusra App aims to address this issue by providing free training programmes, apprenticeships with local professionals and a dedicated team to help our users find work.

Who We Are

We are a team of 100+ volunteers striving to solve local problems at a global scale.

Founders Story

It was probably the hardest year we ever faced as a couple. We were in and out of hospital, lost our jobs, in debt and relying on Universal Credit to pay our bills. It was a struggle to find a job as Brexit was having a real impact on the job market and so to keep ourselves sane we had to stay busy doing something productive. I was looking to put my app development skills to good use.

My wife, being a sociable person, decided to join a local voluntary group. She made a lot of new friends who all helped one another locally. One day she asked me if I could help her voluntary group by creating an app for them. They had recently set up a WhatsApp group to help give food to nearby neighbours during the month of Ramadan. They soon realised there were major security risks. Anyone was able to join the group and they had no idea who they were helping. So I decided to help them build the app.

Whilst building the app and carrying out research I realised a few extra features could really make this app more useful and unique. There was actually nothing like it on the market. A few months later the app was beta tested. We were astonished at the number of people signing up and recieving help through the app. At that point me and my wife decided that we were going to take this project to the next level and so began working hard to launch a final feature packed version of the app.

After two years of development, testing and research I am now writing this message at a time when the world is being severely tested by the COVID-19 outbreak. The features we have been working hard to build are exactly what is needed at this time to allow volunteers to safely and efficiently help nearby neighbours.

I hope to officially launch Yusra App in the next few days. May it be a means of help and mercy for all our neighbours. Your support would be greatly appreciated!
